Information architecture is a graduate study program, dedicated to educate information architects. The core is a rhetoric and ecological approach to categorizing, organizing and presenting information.
Information architects design the building blocks of content structure, navigation, search and style into comprehensive, innovative and effective flows of information. They conduct user studies, specify requirements, manage projects, keeps libraries of metadata, logfiles and standards - and first and foremost they know how to ask strategic questions before jumping into design, and how to facilitate innovation.
